A revolution is occurring in education.
This revolution is being fuelled in part by new media, globalisation, local diversity and learners with new kinds of sensibilities, who increasingly expect to be agents in their own learning rather than passive objects absorbing formal content. These forces portend a fundamental change in the human relations of learning and the institutions in which they have been traditionally located.
Building on the work of the Multiliteracies Project, the Learning by Design (L-by-D) Project experiments with more varied pedagogy and the new media in the hope of developing dynamic and engaging learning environments relevant to our changing times.
This website brings together a community of teachers and researchers around the theory and practice of Learning by Design. We hope that the ideas explored here will prove useful to academics, teachers, trainers, students and policy makers interested in pedagogical design and curriculum innovation.
